The regional advantages of the electrical porcelain industry in Luxi County are obvious. In the past three years, the output value of the electrical porcelain industry has increased by an average of more than 60%, and the profit and tax rate has reached 30%. The economic benefits are remarkable. It has become one of the characteristic industries and pillar industries of Luxi County.
2.2 Have good resource advantages
Pingxiang has the most important mineral resources for the production of electric porcelain. In Pingxiang and surrounding areas, there are abundant mineral resources such as kaolin, quartz, feldspar, etc. The mine has large reserves and high quality, which can basically meet the raw material demand for electric porcelain production. Natural gas, the basic energy required for firing high-grade electrical porcelain, has also been introduced, laying a good foundation for cleaner production in this industry.
2.3 Have certain technical and technological advantages
In the nearly 100-year history of electric porcelain production, Pingxiang’s electric porcelain production technology has been continuously improving, the equipment level and the quality of personnel have been continuously improved, and it has accumulated rich experience in electric porcelain production and cultivated a large number of practically experienced engineering and technical personnel and operators. A certain technological advantage has been formed. Now we can mass produce electric porcelain products such as suspension porcelain insulators with strength levels of 160kN and below, mid-range pillar porcelain insulators and hollow porcelain insulators. Some products have been exported to Southeast Asia, Europe and the United States. Jiangxi Qianglian Electric Porcelain Co., Ltd., which has recently put into production, adopts dry isostatic pressing technology to produce high-strength rod-shaped pillar products. The technological level and product quality have reached the advanced level of similar products in China. More importantly, there are more manual operations in the electrical porcelain manufacturing industry, and the operating skills of employees have a significant impact on product quality. The resources of skilled operators in Pingxiang area are unique.
Some electric porcelain manufacturers have also established good cooperative relations with domestic authoritative electric porcelain scientific research institutions such as Hunan University and Xi’an Electric Porcelain Research Institute. Through industry-university-research cooperation, the independent innovation ability of enterprises has been improved. Some achievements have been transformed into productivity, which has promoted The technological progress of Pingxiang's electrical porcelain industry.

(1) Higher level of industry profits and taxes
Compared with daily ceramics and architectural ceramics, as long as the pass rate of the whole product process reaches the top level in the country, the electric porcelain industry has a large room for appreciation of raw materials after production and processing, high industrial added value, and higher levels of profit and tax. According to the calculation of the average tax of 87 industrial manufacturing industries by the National Taxation Bureau, the average tax of the insulator arrester industry is the highest, about 8%. Based on the investment intensity of 1 million yuan/mu, the tax per unit area will reach more than 100,000 yuan/mu.

On the one hand, the electrical porcelain industry has high added value of products, and on the other hand, due to the characteristics of its large production technology and product variety, it is difficult to realize mechanized and automated production, which requires a large number of practitioners. According to statistics, the per capita industrial added value of the electric porcelain industry is 60,000 to 100,000 yuan/year per person. Compared with the iron and steel industry’s per capita added value of 300,000 yuan per year per person, to achieve the same industrial added value, the required employment is steel 3~5 times of the industry.
(3) Easy to form industrial clusters and industrial chains
A key factor for the sustainable development of industrial economy is the formation of industrial clusters and industrial chains. Electric porcelain is a basic industry supporting power transmission and transformation projects. Whether it is hydropower, thermal power, wind power or solar power generation, as long as there is power transmission, electric porcelain cannot be separated. Therefore, electric porcelain has a continuous and growing market demand and will always be a sunrise industry. . Electric porcelain has a long industrial chain. In addition to the manufacture of porcelain parts, a large number of metal accessories are required, such as iron caps, steel feet, and connecting flanges. Electric porcelain is also a key component of many electrical products, such as external insulation and containers for various capacitors, transformers, and circuit breakers. Therefore, electrical appliances, the downstream products of the electric porcelain industry, are a high value-added field with a lot of room for development. They should be developed as a new growth point in the electric porcelain industry chain and are also an important prerequisite for making the electric porcelain industry bigger and stronger.
2.5 Opportunities and challenges faced by the development of the electric porcelain industry
(1) Opportunity
According to the State Grid’s construction and development plan, during the "Eleventh Five-Year Plan" period, China’s total grid investment will exceed 2 trillion yuan, of which State Grid Corporation of 850 billion yuan, China Southern Power Grid Corporation of 234 billion yuan, and local power grids in various provinces and cities will invest about 1 trillion yuan. . By 2010, the UHV transmission line will reach 4,200km, the substation capacity will reach 39 million kVA, and the cross-region power transmission capacity will reach 70 million kW. Urban and rural power grids: 220kV and above AC and DC transmission lines> 340,000 km, substation capacity> 1.3 billion kVA. The above data shows that my country's power grid construction is in a period of rapid growth, and the market demand for electrical porcelain will continue to grow within a certain period of time.
Insulators and electrical equipment assembled with insulators account for about 35% of the total investment in power grid construction, that is, there is an average annual market demand of about 150 billion yuan, of which the domestic market demand for insulators is 12-15 billion yuan per year, and porcelain insulators account for 40%~ 50%, that is, the current domestic market demand for porcelain insulators is 5-7 billion yuan. From the perspective of market segmentation, electric porcelain products with voltage levels from 110kV to 1000kV have a large market space, but low-voltage electric porcelain products have relatively low technical content, many manufacturers, and fierce competition. Due to high technical requirements and difficulty in manufacturing rod-shaped pillars and porcelain sleeves for high-voltage and UHV products, the supply of products often exceeds supply.
In the next 20 years, my country's rail transit will maintain rapid development, especially high-speed railway, light rail and subway will become the focus of construction. Insulators for rail transit are also a market worthy of attention with great development potential.
Although there is still a certain gap between China’s electrical porcelain manufacturing technology and developed countries, compared with the electronic information industry, electrical porcelain is an industry that consumes more resources and energy. As the international energy prices rise sharply, the mineral resources for the production of electrical porcelain are increasing. The less, the increase in labor costs, and the electrical porcelain in developed countries is shifting to China and Southeast Asian countries, which also provides a good opportunity for China to develop electrical porcelain and seize the international market.
(2) Challenge
Most of Pingxiang’s existing electric porcelain enterprises have the same products, mainly porcelain insulators for lines below 220kV, and some pillars, small porcelain sleeves and other low-tech products. The downstream products of electric porcelain-high value-added electrical products are almost blank, so the scale of output value and profit level are relatively low. The division of labor among enterprises is not clear, there is disorderly competition, there is no well-known brand and independent intellectual property rights, and the international competitiveness of existing products is not strong.
At the same time, due to the transfer of foreign capital and technology to the domestic market, such as NGK, SEVES Group and European PPC Electric Porcelain Co., Ltd., have successively established operations in Shanghai, Tianjin, Suzhou, Tangshan and Wuxi. , Zigong and other places set up factories to produce porcelain insulators or tempered glass insulators. The Rapp Company of the United States has also reached a cooperation agreement on porcelain insulators with Dalian Electric Porcelain Co., Ltd., pushing China’s relatively backward electric porcelain industry with its technological equipment and industrial foundation to the world. The position of the top 500 companies competing on the same platform is undoubtedly a severe test for China's electrical porcelain industry. Facing the challenges of international strong players, we can only survive and develop in the fierce international competition only by accelerating technological progress and enhancing the ability of independent innovation, and continuously improving the grade and cost performance of our products, and make my country's electric porcelain industry bigger and stronger.
